The newly reimagined Festival of Lights & Luminaries strives to celebrate multifaith traditions across Elon's campus, as many religions celebrate the end of the year. However, with this new multicultural lens, it became crucial to accurately and easily portray a lot of information in a very condensed space. This map was distributed to over 3,000 students in attendance at the 2021 festival.
This was one of the most challenging designs I've ever undertaken as there were moving, constantly changing pieces in a puzzle that didn't clarify itself till the very end. The posters for this event were black to emphasize the lights of the luminaries, so I ran up against a few challenges with the visibility of information, and had to balance maintaining consistency with that visibility.

I also had to learn to work within the constraints of company branding guides and rules. I was given the black and grey map depicting Elon's Historic Neighborhood and couldn't alter it in any way for the sake of Elon's branding and consistency.  I used Illustrator and InDesign to create the map shown above that hopefully shed some light in the right direction for those looking to enjoy all the festival had to offer.
